Batescrew High Head Valves
Welded Installation Notes

Valves may be welded to the end of a pipe or to a bulkhead.

Welding can distort the valve seat, causing constant leakage.
This is avoided by adhering to good welding practice, as described below.
(These valves have a stainless steel seat, consisting of a stainless ring,
welded to a generally cylindrical spigot.  The spigot is of sufficient length
to provide rigidity to the seat and is an essential internal component of
    all valves in this range.)
WELDING
As it is the protruding end of the spigot which will be welded, the first essential
is to select a valve from our 'Grouted' range, these having the longest spigots.
Please observe these precautions:
  1)  Have the valve tightly closed while welding.

  2)  Place small tacks around the joint, tacking alternately at opposite points.

  3)  Do the final welding in very short sections, again alternating to opposite
       sides and at  right angles.
